wholesale-warning.net

I don't want to spend much time, space or energy on negative things in this blog, but I felt I had to set some things straight here. I've been working with Wholesale-dress.net for a while; they've sent me some nice clothing which I promoted on my blog. Browsing their website, I found so many nice things that I recently decided to place an order myself.

Today I received my package, and i'll just post some picture to objectively show you the difference between the photos on the website and the actual garments. I have to be honest with you guys to hopefully prevent you from making the same mistake. I never would have taken them on if I'd known this before. This might be a bit unprofessional towards Wholesale-dress, but I really want to be honest with you, so you can have the guarantee that the companies I promote, are well worth checking out.
The first thing that struck me was that this garment looked as if it'd been dragged across a factory floor. Also, gold trimming? Really?

Two buttons instantly fell off and then there's the obvious difference color, sloppy design and the creative interpretation of the word 'chiffon'. This is the kind of fabric you don't expect to see on anything but a 3$ Halloween-costume.

Pffft.

Though I'm heavily disappointed, this one's still alright and I might be wearing it (with a basic dress underneath cause it's see-through), but I would've never bought it in this color!

Anyway, on a brighter note, there are also a lot of good things going on in sponsor-land. Like my new sponsor KLING, who I received a lovely package from today. A little preview:

I'm also putting up another giveaway with the amazing Les Jumelles for you later this week!

Again, sorry if some of you have ordered stuff off wholesale-dress because of me.

yikes! Those are some crazy differences O_O.

The KLING package looks especially exciting though!

oh dear, they are very different, it actually surprises me that they thought they could do that AND get away with it!

I won a giveaway once at Les Jumelles and my price never arrived. I emailed them 4 or 5 times and they never responded. Don't know what you're going to do with it but I think you should check whether the winner has actually got her price or not by the ending of the giveaway.

Mirthe, I'm sorry to hear that. You should get in touch with the owner of the blog you won the giveaway at, cause it definitely wasn't my giveaway.

haha what??? I don't know if I would be angry or if I would laugh for three hours straight. They should be arrested.

Anyway, I started my first ever blog yesterday! I kind of don't know what i'm doing but if you had time to check it out, I would be SO excited because you're blog is beyond awesome and really inspiring!

@LikeSpinningPlates: well, seeing as I spent €40, I have a hard time laughing about it right now. Hoping to get a partial refund, but at least the €20 shipping fee is gone, gone, gone. Will definitely check out your blog, dear!

Hello Laura. I dont usually comment on your blog because I'm not good at speaking English and because I have no idea about fashion (thats why I love your blog cause now I'm learning =) hehe) but this time I wanted to comment because I'm really sad. I'm so sorry and thank you to be honest with us, you are so nice :) I love your style, I do, I do! Hugs from Spain. Lola.

Laura @ The World Looks Red said...

Lola, thank you so much! And your English is excellent, don't worry!

WOW, how disappointing is that, I love all the clothes how they look on the website pictures expecially the one with the chiffon skirt, but in real the thing honestly look aweful, I actually heard good things about the site even through other blogs but now, OH NO - not ordering! I feel sorry.

just return it.

Liefs x

I hate to say it, but it's always a sketchy situation when ordering from Hong Kong... I have ordered things off ebay and the pictures are nice, but the quality is so terrible. At least you are being responsible and bringing the truth up about the company.

Laura @ The World Looks Red said...

Tracy, I'm still waiting to see if I have to pay the shipping costs if I want to return it, cause the dresses were really cheap, but shipping costs a lot, I'd rather burn them than spend one more cent on this crap. I just wanted you guys to know that I do not want to be associated with this company anymore.

Thanks everyone.

this is exactly why I am scared to buy stuff online... thanks for sharing! =)

oh wow that blows, i am glad you posted about it though. hope things with your other sponsors work out better

winterkid said...

maybe youuse this opportunity to try to make this a little less of a sponsor-blog? i get so bored with all this"look, who send me this"-pictures.
i get the point, you want to inspire and all and you also get money for it but maybe a little less obvious?
a little more music, books, art and kärlek, hm?

wow, that is crazy!
thanks for sharing and spreading the word! sorry about the clothing you got, hopefully you get your money back!

Thanks for posting, I appreciate your honesty!

p.s. your new sponsor looks great, such lovely clothes!! :) xxx

ohh this is really bad, I've browsed their website and almost purchased some things and now I'm glad I didn't!
Anyway your Kling dress looks great!

Also Laura, seaking of Les Jumelles, the carousel necklace I won at your giveaway never showed up to my house, do you know something about it? :|

Miss Minik said...

wow thats a huge difference and their sewing looks sloppy!!

I like your new sponsor!! cute shoes ♥

Lovely dresses! Definitely my favorite one is the first one :D Gorgeous!

Rebeccak said...

WOW! That is aweful.

Thank you for being so honest. I sometimes feel like bloggers end up pushing the agenda of their sponsers, while making it look like their own - so it is nice to have someone speak up when the products aren't up to scratch!

The Semi Sweet said...

As my mother would say, "that really burns my biscuits!!!" Who were they trying to fool? It's sad but I really don't think you'll be getting a refund from that company. They were out to dupe people.

TheChambrayCountess said...

Oh my goodness, that is terrible! Well, they won't be in business for long.

At least your second sponsor look promising!

Theresa said...

I'm actually really glad you did this post because the site does leave you feeling a bit unsure. I just received a dress I purchased from them about a month ago and sewing and just overall quality was far from nice. Hopefully you get this worked out, because that really is a shame!
On the other hand, those shoes and package from KLING look incredible! ♥

Kelly-Ann Maddox said...

I'm impressed that you've spoken out and made such clear points about the problems, which are sadly more than obvious from the photo evidence! Ugh! That dress with the 'chiffon' skirt is appalling, it looks like a junior school textile project.

I must say I agree with winterkid, it's an opportunity to make it less of a sponsor blog affair, or at least try before you buy into a company in future.

brooke and colin said...

Yeah, I had this happen to me with wholesale dress. The material was t-shirt material and not the chiffon I was promised, also the dress was so short I couldn't even wear it with stockings.
I think I only spent about 10 Australian dollars on it so I wasn't too shocked or angry. The website looks pretty dodgy too.

Laura @ The World Looks Red said...

Thanks everyone :)

@Raquel, i sent you an e-mail.

@Winterkid, Tea For Two; I'm sorry you feel that way, but in the past 1,5 month I've worn one sponsored item. That is nothing compared to most other blogs, so I think your complaints are a bit unreasonable. Yeah I have ads in my sidebar, and yes it pays the bills, but obviously I only want to support brands that I'm passionate about. I hope this article shows that. Before I really liked Wholesale-dress, because the free stuff they sent me was always really cute. They're not gonna send crappy stuff like this to the bloggers they use to promote them. Obviously I liked and trusted the website up to that point, otherwise I wouldn't have placed an order myself.

As for the sponsored items in my blog, everything I wear are items that I picked from those shops, I would never wear something I wouldn't have bought myself. I've gotten stuff sent to me that I refused to wear on my blog, just cause I didn't love them.

laura, please don't get me wrong. i really like you and your blog and i truly understand your situation as a student not having that much money.. but what i ask myself reading you blog is: where should the quality come from? from the 5 euro you spend for each dress? and wouldn't it be better to own less of those cheap clothes sewed somewhere in third world but buying some clothes that are fashionable and produced in a ethical correct way?

Laura @ The World Looks Red said...

I agree with you there, but that doesn't take away the fact that the clothes they pretend to sell on their website are completely different from what you get. The dresses were about 6-8€ each, but they're sold straight from the factory, cutting out all the middle men and transportation. I guess that's what you'd pay for a regular H&M dress if you took out all the steps after production.

Just wanted to warn all of you not to buy from them.

winterkid said...

when i commented i mostly thought about the les jumelles jewellry, i didn't count how many times you wore and mentioned it within the past 31 days. it just seemed a lot. what about the sponsor spotlight? the blogging about you needing new sponsors for 20 euros? can't you do that in private? send emails, ask them if they want to buy a spot on your sidebar? and the giveaways from les jumelles doesn't seem to work that well either. i read blogs to get inspiration, to get a glimpse of the life of that interesting person. i don't want to feel like someone's trying to sell me something..even if you try to excuse yourself by saying that your passionate about those brands.

Laura @ The World Looks Red said...

Gee, if it bothers you so much, stop visiting.

I read the blog to see nice clothes and then where I can get them. I've bought many things from Miss Patina after seeing Laura wear them well.
Isn't that why we read fashion blogs? Or at least that's why I read this blog. See it, like it? then I can buy it (or buy things that look similar to recreate the look)- kinda like a magazine, only with cute indie clothes more tailored to my taste. Although I'm sure you're a very interesting person Laura and I do enjoy hearing about your life :P

Sorry to hear they messed you around. Well, I bet they didn't expect you to be so open about it but they sure had it coming!

The Kling package looks exciting though :)
