The Killers

Ok, I must admit, I don't really like the Killers that much. It's just not my type of music and when I saw them at festivals I was not very impressed. But yesterday Elke and I got to go for free when they played at Heineken Music Hall (the percussionist is a friend of Elke's) and I had a really good time, haha! Everyone was so nice and they had this really cool tourbus that was very spaceshiplike.

We had drinks on the bus and then at 4 they had to leave. We got to bring our bikes on the bus and they dropped us off in the centre cause the venue is in the middle of nowhere in an industrial zone, an hour out of the centre (when there's no public transport). SO SWEET!!

Hah, Dutch fans... Before the gig we were sitting outside drinking beers and eating chocolates with Rob (the percussionist, pictured above) and this guy came and sat next to us and went:
'Hey, ben jij nou lid van de band? The Killers?'
'....'
'Ow uuh ar joo wit zhe bend?'
'Yeah, yes i am.'
I pointed out the fact that if he actually thought he was a member of the Killers, would he have expected him to understand Dutch? Then he didn't know what to say and left.

And people wanting to take pictures of Rob, thinking he's the singer.

I want to walk around with you

Sweet summer night but I'm stripped to my sheets
Forehead is leaking, the AC squeaks
A voice from the clock says, "You're not gonna get tired"
My bed is a pool and the walls are on fire
Soak my head in the sink for a while
Chills on my neck and it makes me smile
But my bones have to move and my skin's gotta breathe
You pick up the phone and I'm so relieved
You slide down your stairs to the heated street
The sun has left us with slippery feet
And I want to walk around with you
And I want to walk around with you
And be here with you and go out

- Animal Collective - Summertime Clothes

I am going to spend the whole summer with my man.
This song cathes the summerspirit so well.
Not being able to sleep cause it's too warm
and then walking around together in the summer night.
It will be amazing.

23rd - 26th May

Drinking beer in the sun at Kungsparken and EF-rehearsal.

EF will go on tour in june, they will play in several cities in Germany, Italy, Belgium, Austria, Switserland and Poland. So if you live in one of there countries you should check out if they're anywhere near you.
EF on Myspace.

I'm back from Gothenburg now, which makes me sad, but I'll be there all summer. I'm really looking forward to spending the whole summer with Daniel. We are so in love and it hurts so much that we have to say goodbye all the time. Apart from the distance, everything feels so good about this relationship.

Hymie's basement

________________________________

I've been listening to the same music all the time lately and I was getting a bit bored of it, to be honest. So I decided to see if there's something on my old external harddrive that I was in the mood for. I hadn't listened to Hymie's Basement in a while. These guys are so genius. It's Yoni Wolf of Why? and Andrew Broder of Fog; Two of my favourite bands combined.

Somebody told me when the bomb hits
everybody in a two mile radius will be instantly sublimated.
But if you lay face down on the ground for some time,
avoiding the residual ripples of heat,
you might survive, permanently fucked up and twisted like
you're always underwater refracted.
Oh, but if you do go gas, there's nothing you can do if the air that was once you is mingled and mashed with the kicked up molecules of the enemy's former body.
Big-kid-tested, motherfucker approved.

7th of May (Andrew Bird)

Thursday I went to see my friend Florence who lives in London now, but was back in Amsterdam for a couple days. I miss her.

While I was waiting for the bus, I spotted this tree; So amazing! There were millions of little larvae/caterpillar-things spinning threads over the whole tree. I had never seen anything like it.

Later that night Elke and I got to go to the long sold-out Andrew Bird gig at Paradiso. Thank you Phosphorescent! Phophorescent and Laura Marling were playing support, they were both amazing. I had never heard of Laura Marling before but she really surprised me.

Andrew Bird was amazing, he is so talented and he played all of my favourite AB-songs, including Dr Stringz.

After that we went to fancy bar Weber with the AB-guys, we had a lot of fun, until all the bars closed at 4 and we had to go home.

I wasn't as drunk as I look, I just have a great talent for closing my eyes in pictures.
